Wisdom

Who chose it? Our governors

Our governors chose Wisdom because we believe that true wisdom begins with reverence for God. Wisdom is more than knowing lots of facts. It is about making good choices, listening to others and using what we know to do what is right.

At St Wilfrid’s, wisdom means: Thinking carefully, learning from our mistakes and making choices that help ourselves and others.

Hope

“Now hope that is seen is not hope. For who hopes for what is seen? But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience.” Romans 8:24–25

Who chose it? Our governors

Our governors chose Hope because it reminds us to look forward with positivity and trust. Hope helps us believe that good things are possible, even when life is difficult. It gives us the strength to keep going and the patience to wait for better things.

At St Wilfrid’s, hope means: Believing in a brighter future, encouraging others and never giving up.

Joy

“The joy of the Lord is your strength.” Nehemiah 8:10

Who chose it? Our staff

Our staff chose Joy because a joyful school is full of laughter, smiles and gratitude. We believe that joy is part of being loved by God, and we want our school to be a place where everyone can experience happiness and belonging.

At St Wilfrid’s, joy means: Celebrating good things, sharing happiness and helping others to feel joyful too.

Humility & Service

Who chose them? Our ethos group

Our ethos group chose Humility & Service because humility means celebrating others rather than boasting about ourselves. Service means using our gifts and helping others, even when nobody has asked us to.

At St Wilfrid’s, humility and service mean: Being willing to learn, putting others first and helping to make our community a better place.

Thankfulness

“Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good.” Psalm 107:1

Who chose it? Our children

Our children chose Thankfulness because a happy school appreciates the people who help us every day. We are thankful for our teachers, friends, families and all the good things we have.

At St Wilfrid’s, thankfulness means: Saying thank you, noticing the good things in our lives and showing appreciation through our actions.

Trust

“When I am afraid, I put my trust in you.” Psalm 56:3

Who chose it? Our ethos group

Our ethos group chose Trust because it is the glue that holds our school together. We trust our teachers to guide us and our friends to be honest, kind and loyal. Trust helps us feel safe, supported and ready to learn.

At St Wilfrid’s, trust means: Being honest, keeping promises and knowing that we can rely on one another.

Generosity

“God loves a cheerful giver.” 2 Corinthians 9:7

Who chose it? Our children

Our children chose Generosity because we should give our time, help and kindness to those around us without expecting anything back. Generosity is not just about giving things; it is about sharing what we have and making sure others feel cared for.

At St Wilfrid’s, generosity means: Sharing, helping and giving with a happy heart.

Love

“Love your neighbour as yourself.” Mark 12:31

Who chose it? Our children

Our children chose Love because love means being kind, caring for others and making everyone feel like they belong. We believe that every person is precious to God and deserves to be treated with kindness and respect.

At St Wilfrid’s, love means: Caring for others, including everyone and showing kindness in all that we do.

Reverence & Respect

“Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe.” Hebrews 12:28

Who chose them? Our Senior Leadership Team

Our Senior Leadership Team chose Reverence & Respect because these values remind us to have deep respect for God, for one another and for the world around us. They help us to see wonder in creation and to appreciate the dignity and uniqueness of every person.

At St Wilfrid’s, reverence and respect mean: Treating people and the world with care, listening thoughtfully and recognising that everyone matters.

Creativity

“I have filled him with the Spirit of God, with skill, with intelligence, with knowledge, and with all craftsmanship.” Exodus 31:3

Who chose it? Our parents

Our parents chose Creativity because God is the ultimate creator. When we paint, write, build or invent, we are using the unique gifts and talents God has given us. Creativity helps us to express ourselves, solve problems and make the world a better place.

At St Wilfrid’s, creativity means: Using our imagination, trying new ideas and celebrating the talents of ourselves and others.

Justice

“And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.” Micah 6:8

Who chose it? Our staff

Our staff chose Justice because we want our education to help children see God’s love in action. We believe that learning should inspire us to notice what is unfair, care about others and have the courage to make a difference.

Our curriculum helps children become courageous advocates who seek what is just and fair locally, nationally and globally, bringing light to the darkness.

At St Wilfrid’s, justice means: Treating people fairly, standing up for what is right and helping to make the world a more equal place.

Courage

“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, and of love, and of sound mind.” 2 Timothy 1:7

Who chose it? Our parents and children

Our parents chose Courage, and our children helped us to understand why it matters. Courage means stepping outside our comfort zones and trying things that may feel difficult or frightening.

We know that courage is not the absence of fear. It is acting despite fear, trusting that with God’s guidance and protection, we can face challenges and achieve things we never thought possible.

At St Wilfrid’s, courage means: Having a go, speaking up for what is right and persevering when things are difficult.
