Our Church
' Worship and prayer are integral to the Christian ethos of the school and contribute significantly to high aspirations and the good all-round development of pupils academically and spiritually.’
SIAMS 2019
As a Church of England school we work closely with our church of St Wilfrid’s which is just a few hundred yards away in the village of Grappenhall. Our connection with the school is very important to us and we are proud to belong to the family of the church in Grappenhall.
Our Rector, Rev’d Jane, leads worship in school every Monday and each class will visit the church several times a year to lead worship and learn more about our Christian faith.
Rev’d Jane, herself a qualified teacher, is also often invited into school to help with Religious Education classes and to lead confirmation classes with Year 6 pupils. She sits on the Governing body and has responsibility, along with Mrs Steele and Mrs Walker, for overseeing RE, collective worship and Christian distinctiveness within school.
The church building is also a valuable resource which we use for history, art, creative writing and many other subject areas.
Our school community is part of the wider church community and we work together to ensure that worship and prayer are part of the fabric of the school day.
We also collaborate in social action with both school and church supporting Operation Christmas Child, The Children’s Society and Christian Aid.
