Our Buddy Scheme
Our Year 6 children embrace the opportunity to take on additional responsibility in their final year of primary school and play an active role in every area of school life.
One of their favourite tasks is to be a buddy for a child in Foundation Stage. Every Year 6 child is matched with a child in Reception and they become their ‘buddy’. Year 6 play with the younger children when they visit Foundation at lunchtime on Tuesdays and work with their buddy on a planned activity every Friday. They provide a perfect role model to the youngest children in school.
We have been running the buddy scheme for a number of years and it is a wonderful way of welcoming our new starters into our school. All children, young or old very much enjoy spending time with their buddies and is the one of the highlights of the week.
