Tattenhall
At the start of each year our Year 4 children take part in a 3 day residential visit to Tattenhall. This provides the children with the opportunity to spend time with their friends away from home for a short period while devleoping both their teambuilding and artistic skills.
The centre provides facilities for several outdoor activities including a low ropes course, climbing, some probelme solving puzzles and a zipwire across the grounds. Inside the centre, school staff lead a number of art activities from the Year 4 curriculum based on their time at Tattenhall and of course both evenings are rounded off with songs around the campfire!
Read below what our current Year 4 thought of their experience this year.
When we entered Tattenhall, we were extremely excited because this was our first school residential! It wasn’t exactly what we had imagined – it was better!
After we had arrived, we had a tour around the building (we learned where everything was and what to do if there was a fire). Before we realised, it was time to go to bed. Many of us were nervous because some of us hadn’t slept away from home before. Although we had butterflies in our stomachs, we eventually fell asleep and Tattenhall was filled with the sound of snoring.
With the sounds of chatter and yawning, we woke up the next morning and enjoyed a delicious breakfast – bacon, beans, hash browns and toast! The second day was action-packed. We did everything and it was AMAZING! In particular, we enjoyed the zipwire, tree climbing and roasting marshmallows on the fire later that night. When we went to bed the second night, we immediately fell asleep (some people were even asking to go to bed before they finished their hot chocolate).
The third day was filled with packing, art and playing outside. We learned new skills such as sewing and marbling.
Overall, Tattenhall was the best trip we have ever had. We went as a class of 28 young Year 4 children and we came back as grown up individuals who are more responsible than ever before, more polite and are stronger together. We have all learnt the importance of teamwork. We would strongly recommend this trip to the current Year 3 children.
